Prince Rogers Nelson (June 7, 1958- April 21, 2016)

To honor Prince who died four years ago on April 21st, I wanted to showcase this phenomenal artist. He was a multi-talented multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter, producer, master guitar player, and more. His music ranged from rock, R&B, Blues, psychedelia, funk, to pop. He won eight Grammy Awards, six American Music Awards, a Golden Globe Award and an Academy Award for the movie, Purple Rain. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004.

Some didn’t know that Prince was a master musician. Extraordinary. He played 27 instruments, wrote and produced all of his music, and had 39 studio albums, five soundtrack albums, four live albums and five compilation albums. He played almost all of the instruments on his albums.

It may be a rumor, but sometime in the 1980’s, Eric Clapton was asked how it felt to be the greatest guitar player in the world. He said, “I don’t know. Ask Prince.”

Rolling Stone voted Prince #33 of the 100 Greatest Guitarists.

This is one of my top favorite videos of Prince. To honor him, here’s an acoustic version of “Cream” a phenomenal performance by Prince. Some don’t know how versatile he was.

RIP Prince.
