AC/DC, new docuseries launch, first clip released, 40th Anniversary Back In Black, Rock and Blues Muse

AC/DC celebrates their 40th anniversary of Back in Black, their legendary 1980 album, with rare footage of the band discussing the song “You Shook Me All Night Long.”

The first episode, (with more to come!) captures the band dissecting their first single with Brian Johnson, who took over as lead singer after Bon Scott died in February 1980.

To mark the band’s 40th anniversary, documentary footage has been uploaded to AC/DC’s social media. This clip is the first in a docuseries unveiling the story of making Back In Black. Johnson discusses how producer Mutt Lange and late guitarist Malcom Young influenced how the song ultimately was created.  Young talks about the song’s guitar riffs and Johnson talks about the lyrics. Ultimately they agreed that the suggestion about too many words in the song was not right and that the original lyrics and how Johnson sang them were best.

AC/DC has created a FanWall, calling out to their fans on their website and social media to post their photos and videos on Instagram with the hashtag #backinblack40 with the promise they’ll post the best on their Fan Wall. See here.

In December of 2019, former Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider said that the AC/DC reunion was on and was as close as you can get to the original band. He also said a new album was on the way, featuring material recorded by the late Malcom Young before his death in 2017.

Snider added that the new album would feature all four surviving members: Angus Young, Brian Johnson, Cliff Williams and Phil Rudd. He referenced a meeting with Johnson and said that the singer’s health was good after Johnson’s serious hearing problems had caused him to stop touring with AC/DC’s Rock or Bust Tour in 2016.
