5 Rock and Blues Bands On Our Radar

By Martine Ehrenclou

Discover new music. It’s what most of us live for. We have created a collection of five bands we think are worthy of your time. Their new albums or EPs might have slipped past us or we just haven’t had the manpower to feature each one with a review. Nonetheless, these five artists/bands are really good and worthy of a listen. From rock with an edge to funky blues, we hope you’ll enjoy them.

During this time of the coronavirus, we can’t have too much new music to listen to. Let’s be honest, it’s a thrill to discover new music from artists we like already or haven’t heard of before.

Dive in. Each one has info on the band and a sample of their music via lyric video.

We hope you’re all safe and well.

MODERN ROCK
Sons Of Silver ‘Doomsday Noises’ EP
The group’s collaborative songwriting style, signature sound and collective years of experience is what make Sons of Silver such a standout phenom in the alt rock scene. In addition to vocalist Peter Argyropoulos, original Pearl Jam drummer Dave Krusen (who was recently inducted into the Rock N’ Roll Hall Of Fame) and Candlebox bassist Adam Kury, provide the backbeat while former Skillet guitarist Kevin Haaland and keyboardist and esteemed engineer Brina Kabler round out the band’s signature sound. Logging nearly 80 shows per year, the musicians collaborated more than ever back in the studio. On ‘Doomsday Noises’, songs spun off from jam sessions as a unit and the writing process relied on their musical interplay.

MODERN ROCK
South of Eden (Formerly Black Coffee) Debut Self-titled EP
Rip roaring riffs abound on this irresistible anthem, produced by Grammy Award-winning producer Greg Wells (Adele, Twenty One Pilots, Deftones) hyper-charged guitars and rock style scorching sound and an unapologetic attitude and grit. South of Eden have performed alongside the foo Fighters, System of a Down and more. Classically rock influenced, there are several different genres that influence their music. We’re a band that writes, records, and plays like the pioneers of rock before us. We aren’t looking to bring anything back, but instead to remind people what rock n roll means. No rules. This music represents what we believe is real, raw music. No click tracks and triggers or copy and paste bullshit. Just a bunch of hippies in a room.”
Their EP is set to release August 21 on Lava/Republic Records.
