Troy Redfern

Deemed Britain’s “King of Slide Guitar,” Troy Redfern releases a new video “Ghosts” from his highly anticipated album, The Fire Cosmic out August 6, 2021 via RED7 Records.

“Ghosts” is an example of modern roots music at its zenith, showcasing Redfern’s mighty guitar talents, clean vocal tones, and epic songwriting.

Against the backdrop of the wide open Western plains,  Redfern’s “Ghosts” video is an atmospheric story about an ill-fated relationship. What remains are the memories, ghosting images of a lost love.

Playing his heavily worn 1929 National Triolian resonator guitar on the porch of a log cabin, Troy Redfern conjures mythic themes of the beloved anti-hero. Alongside gritty vocals, Redfern’s slide guitar is as haunting and sinewy as the song itself. Burning slide guitar chops wind this song into a furious build with shuffling drums, harmonies and a roots/rock epic feel.

Welcome to the soundtrack of the rest of your summer.

Redfern’s new album, The Fire Cosmic, follows five unprecedented albums that Troy released in 2020. It was recorded at the legendary Rockfield Studios in North Wales, produced by Paul ‘Win’ Winstanley. For the recording of the new album, Troy enlisted one of the best rhythm sections in the UK, including the legendary Darby Todd on drums (Robben Ford, Martin Barre, Paul Gilbert), and Dave Marks on bass (Hans Zimmer.

Troy’s album features vintage resonator guitars including 1929 National Triolian Resonator, 1930 National Style O Resonator, and 1962 Silvertone Jupiter, plus various Strats and Les Pauls. Troy uses a Diamond Bottlenecks ‘Signature Troy Redfern’ Glass Slide on all tracks.

A passionate, intense and free-spirited indie blues artist, Troy Redfern’s talents include fearless slide guitar playing, emotive vocals, and expansive, rich songwriting. This multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter, blends contemporary blues, roots and rock with hints of some of the past blues/rock greats.

Troy cut his teeth and refined his style over the last few years, playing festival main stages and blazing a trail across Europe, Scandinavia, and Russia. He’s also become a well-known draw on the UK Blues Rock festival circuit, playing alongside rock luminaries including Robert Plant.

Taking up the guitar as a teen, Troy quickly absorbed his musical influences of the early blues pioneers and the energy of the 70’s and 80’s rock icons. The turning point came when he discovered open tunings and slide guitar.

“I immediately felt like I’d come home the moment I put a bottleneck on my finger and started playing slide. It instantly felt completely natural to me. This style of playing helped me find my true voice on the instrument.”

Carving out a name for himself by relentlessly touring and blazing a trail across the main stage festival circuits in the UK, Europe, Scandinavia, and Russia, and sharing the stage with the likes of Robert Plant and Dr Feelgood, Troy has worked tirelessly to build a strong following of diehard fans who gravitate towards his honest, fiery performances and visceral guitar playing.

Troy Redfern will be on a 2021 UK September tour with Robert Jon & The Wreck. In 2022, he will tour the UK March and April with Wille & The Bandits. For tour dates see here
