Music Legend, Gregg Allman, Dies at Age 69

Gregg Allman

By Martine Ehrenclou

Gregg Allman, who founded The Allman Brothers Band with his late brother Duane, has died.

Musician, singer, and songwriter, Gregg Allman fronted the Allman Brothers Band for 45 years and also enjoyed a solo career. As the lead singer and keyboardist for the Allman Brothers Band, he was considered one of the originators of Southern Rock and combined a fusion of blues, jazz, country and rock into their music. Perhaps their best known album is Live at Fillmore East. Allman composed the epic concert jam, “Whipping Post” and such classics [Read More]

Very often, your only chance of unlocking, or at least revealing, the mysterious artistic intent of your favorite band was on the cover of the record itself. Those days are long gone of course, and trying to explain them to anyone under the age of 25 is a waste of time, unless you enjoy [Read More]

By Martine Ehrenclou

I wasn’t quite sure how I was going to respond to TajMo, the album from blues giants, Taj Mahal and Keb’ Mo.’ TajMo is the duo’s first 11-track, self produced album, released May 5, 2017 on Concord Records.

I’m a big fan of Keb’ Mo’ but to be honest I haven’t been exposed to much Taj Mahal. Before listening to it, I feared that the album might be a collection of sagging 60’s tunes. Boy, was I wrong. TajMo is a celebratory record that blends blues, roots and [Read More]
