Summer is officially over. As we head into Fall, the quest for new music is stronger than ever as we think about cooler days, nights by the fire, the approach of holidays. Well, we got you covered. We have some outstanding new music for your October and beyond. There’s a truck load of great new modern blues-rock and rock & roll music soon to be released or just released. All are outstanding.

To get the Fall party started, I’ve hand-picked 10 new modern blues-rock and rock & roll songs from great artists and bands with upcoming albums or albums that have just been released. Time to welcome the cooler breezes and changing season and celebrate with some new hot blues-rock and rock & roll. Kick back or crank it, whatever the songs call for.

Some of you might not know that Gov’t Mule has a new  album coming out, Heavy Load Blues out November 12th. This is pretty exciting news for Mule fans and we’re hot on it ourselves. Joe Bonamassa is set to release a new album as well, Time Clocks, and the great Carolyn Wonderland is also releasing a new album, Tempting Fate out on Alligator Records. Carlos Santana is also getting ready to release Blessings and Miracles soon on BMG. And that doesn’t include a slew of other great artists with EPs or albums. Check out the songs below. Carlos Santana
Legendary guitarist Carlos Santana has a hot new album, Blessings and Miracles to be releases on October 15 via BMG. The new single by this multi Grammy winner and Rock & Roll hall of Fame guitarist,  “Whiter Shade of Pale” featuring Steve Winwood, is beautiful. A definite head-turner. Other guests on the upcoming release are Chris Stapleton, Diane Warren, Chick Corea, G-Easy, Winwood and more. Santana spent the last two years recording Blessings and Miracles and collaborating with other record makers.

Gov’t Mule
Southern Rock jam band formed by guitarist, singer, Warren Haynes (Allman Brothers Band) and bassist Allen Woody. Their upcoming album, Heavy Load Blues, is set to release November 12 on Fantasy Records, the first-ever blues album from this outstanding band. The 13-track set features a mix of tunes written by Warren Haynes and covers brought to the fore by Elmore James, Ann Peebles, Tom Waits, Howlin’ Wolf and Bobby “Blue” Bland. Although the band does include blues in their live shows, their approach is unique and based on their chemistry as a band. As a bonus Gov’t Mule offers a behind-the-scenes look into making the album that sees band members Warren Haynes, Matt Abts, Danny Louis and Jorgen Carlsson discuss the record.

The Record Company
Grammy nominated, Los Angeles-based blues-rock trio, The Record Company are set to release a new album, Play Loud on October 8 on Concord Records, produced by Grammy winning producer, Dave Sardy. Consisting of guitarist/lead vocalist Chris Vos, bassist Alex Stiff, and drummer Marc Cazorla, Play Loud is a follow-up their critically lauded sophomore album, All Of This Life. Their debut, Give It Back To You, earned a Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary Blues Album. The band has appeared on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”, “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert”, “CBS This Morning” “NPR’s World Café” and many more.

Joanne Shaw Taylor
Critically acclaimed British guitarist, singer, songwriter, Joanne Shaw Taylor, is universally hailed as the UK’s premiere blues-rock guitarist. Her new album, The Blues Album, was just released September 24 on KTBA Records and produced by Joe Bonamassa and Josh Smith. Her voice is rich with soulfulness with hints of past greats but with a sound entirely her own. The album showcases Taylor’s electrifying guitar chops and sultry vocals on the 11-track record, featuring Joanne’s personalized covers of rare blues covers originally recorded by Albert King, Peter Green, Little Richard, Magic Sam, Aretha Franklin and more.

Naked Gypsy Queens
Staking their claim as the new heavyweights of rock & Roll’s modern-day renaissance, the Tennessee quartet Naked Gypsy Queens are set to release their debut EP, Georgiana, out February 11 on Mascot Records. Rooted in amplified blues, hard-charging grooves and dual lead guitars, the band builds on the larger than life sound of their heroes from the 60s and 70s. Their new single/video “Down To The Devil” keeps the flame burning for old-school rock fueled by their own 21st century fire. They quickly became one of Nashville’s premiere rock acts before any of the bandmates were 20 years old. The band is comprised of Chris Attigliato (lead singer, guitar), Cade Pickering (guitar), Bo Howard (bass), Landon Herring (drums.)

Joe Bonamassa
Blues-rock guitar star Joe Bonamassa is set to release a new studio album, Time Clocks, on October 29 via Provogue and J&R Adventures. Just out, his new scorching rock ballad “Time Clocks” features the Grammy nominated guitarist, singer, songwriter, soul searching on a song penned by Bonamassa and Kevin Shirley. With a heartfelt and moving narrative, the song will stand the test of time. Backed with vocals from Juanita Tippins and Prinnie Stevens, along with the superb Anton Fig on drums, Steve Mackey on bass, Lachy Doley on piano/organ, and Kevin Shirley on percussion.

Avey Grouws Band
Blues-rock, rock & roll band Avey Grouws Band just released their new album, Tell Tale Heart, produced by Grammy-winning producer Casey Wasner. With one helluva singer (Jeni Grouws) and superb guitar player (Chris Avey,) this top-tier band of Bryan West on drums, Randy Leasman on bass and Nick Vasquez on keys, is a band to be reckoned with. Tell Tale Heart deserves to be heard. This band kicks ass.

Robert Jon & The Wreck
One of our favorite bands, blues inspired Southern rock and roll band, Robert Jon & The Wreck just released their new album, Shine A Light On Me Brother. With this band, the Southern rock resurgence is shining brighter than ever before. Known for their outstanding musicianship and songwriting, Robert Jon & The Wreck is comprised of Robert Jon Burrison (lead vocals, guitar), Andrew Espantman (drums, background vocals), Steve Maggiora (keyboards, background vocals), Henry James (lead guitar, background vocals), and Warren Murrel (bass). Tremendous vocals and harmonies abound on their new album and their last, Last Light On The Highway.

Dion
Following his critically acclaimed 2020 album, Blues With Friends, Dion is about to release a new album, ‘Stomping Ground’ on November 5th with guests Boz Scaggs, Mark Knopfler, Pati Scialfia, Bruce Springsteen, Keb’ Mo’, Billy F Gibbons, Peter Frampton, Joe Bonamassa, Marcia Ball, and more. Most of the album’s songs were written by Dion and Mike Aguilina. The record was produced by Wayne Hood and is on KTBA Records. Dion is amazing and his new single “Take It Back” featuring Joe Bonamassa is downright superb.

The Damn Truth
