Laura Evans, “Fool (Live)”

Welsh singer-songwriter Laura Evans releases her haunting new bluesy ballad “Fool” (Live) featuring guitarist Chris Buck. This is her first ever live recording of the song off her acclaimed album State of Mind (2022). A slow blues tune, it showcases Evans’ bright yet soulful vocals and songwriting chops.

Born and raised in South Wales, Laura Evans is becoming one of the UK’s most exciting singer-songwriters to hit the airwaves since Stevie Nicks. With her powerhouse sweet and smoky vocals and perfectly crafted anthemic hit songs, her music straddles the worlds of rock, blues, and Americana.

Live in the studio, “Fool” (Live) is a strong lesson in how lush and atmospheric a small band can be. The track is a deeply-soulful ballad performed at whisper level that puts Evans’ sterling voice at the center. Her band surrounds it with guitar parts that ease and support her tale of heartbreak. Chris Buck adds a beautifully phrased guitar solo but keeps Evans at the center of this delicate gem. Need to feel something? Listen to this!

Talking about the writing and recording process, Laura said, “This is one of my favourite songs from the album which I wrote at a pretty dark time in my life with my co-writer and friend Twinnie. I have loved playing it live recently on tour as so many people seem to relate to this lyric. When I had the opportunity to record it live with my full band and my mate Chris Buck in the mix, it was just a joy. I like to think we captured that raw magic and honesty that you only get from recording live”.

State of Mind topped the iTunes Blues chart at number 1, made her the face of the ‘Nu Blue’ editorial playlist on Spotify, landed on Apple Music’s “Todays Country” playlist received praise from blues legend Joe Bonamassa, as well as continued support on the BBC Welsh A List and Planet Rock and rave reviews by music press all over the country. The album has now racked up nearly 1 million streams on Spotify.

In 2020, Laura first burst on to the music scene with the first single from her debut EP, Running Back To You, which charted at number one on the UK blues chart and peaked at 43 on the US blues chart.

Laura had a very busy touring schedule last year she toured as special guest with Californian southern rock band ‘Robert Jon & The Wreck’ on their sell out UK Tour in April, as well opening for Welsh rock band “Cardinal Black” on their UK tour in September and then Canadian Blues artist “Matt Andersen” on his UK sell-out in October, and recently finished up her own headline tour, playing to sell out crowds across the UK.

Laura will play the mainstage at Upton Blues festival this summer as well as Cottingham Folk festival and headline tour dates across Europe this November are to be announced soon.
