Vintage Trouble Releases New Single ‘The Love That Once Lingered’ featuring the vocals by Lady Blackbird.

Hollywood Blues-funk rockers Vintage Trouble release a new single, “The Love That Once Lingered” today, featuring vocals from fellow Los Angeleno, jazz, blues and soul singer Lady Blackbird. This will be the second single from the band’s forthcoming album, Heavy Hymnal following the previous release of ‘Not The One’.

“The Love That Once Lingered” featuring Lady Blackbird is taken from the forthcoming album Heavy Hymnal which is out on June 23rd through Cooking Vinyl.

“The Love That Once Lingered” proves Vintage Trouble can sling old-school soul just as well as they can rock and roll. It’s a song about the death of love that once was strong and will hit every one of your feelings head-on. Lead singer Ty Taylor and guest vocalist Lady Blackbird are a wonderful, emotive pair who have an intuitive chemistry that’s impossible not to notice and be moved by. The arrangement has a touch of New Orleans around the edges but the main vibe here is sweet soul music. The lyric video for the song just adds to the heartbreak experience “The Love That Once Lingered” communicates. It’s an outstanding track from one of the best groups currently on the scene.

Ty Taylor, vocalist for Vintage Trouble says, “It’s always hard in love life, the moment that you open your eyes, heart, and mind to the fact that what “is” has become what “was”. Early in a relationship, a kiss, a hand on the cheek, lovemaking, laughter, and the like would last way beyond the moment of contact. You could be on a train for hours going out of town from your love but smiling because you could still smell their sweet aura. One day it just stops. Many times the reason is never found. But it is a staggering hurt. And it can come in the blink of an eye. As quickly as love can arrive, it can swiftly depart with no reason or rhyme. Love goes from feverish to cold-hearted. Growing up, there were so many amazing love song duets that always hit harder because it felt like you were hearing two sides of a love story being spoken into your left and right ear simultaneously. When our producer/her producer Chris Seefried, devilishly suggested it be recorded with Lady Blackbird, the sky opened. And once she played her vocals down, I knew there was a God. And his love would always linger.”

After years as a session vocalist, the LA-based singer Lady Blackbird stunned the music world with her raw vocal power on her 2021 debut album Black Acid Soul. Since then, she has gone from strength to strength with sold-out European shows, appearances at the Queen’s Jubilee Concert and a BBC Radio Session at Maida Vale. She is honoured to be appearing on this new track: “I first saw Vintage Trouble on “The View”. It was Whoopi Goldberg’s birthday, and I was dancing on my bed. It is such a thrill for me to duet with Ty on this album. I’m a huge fan”

Vintage Trouble comprises lead singer Ty Taylor, guitarist Nalle Colt, bassist Rick Barrio Dill, and drummer Richard Danielson.

Taking the best parts of James Brown, Mick Jagger, Bruno Mars and Prince, vocalist Ty Taylor is widely regarded as one of the finest frontmen of his generation. The band will be bringing their electric live show to the UK in the coming months including the slot at Glastonbury.
