Live Nation To Require Proof of Covid Vaccination or Negative Covid Test for Concert Attendees

By Martine Ehrenclou

Due to the dramatic surge of Covid-19 cases as a result of the Delta variant across the U.S., proof of Covid vaccination will now be required at major live music events presented by Live Nation.

Effective October 4th, Live Nation will require all artists, crew and attendees to show proof of full vaccination or a negative Covid-19 test taken within 72 hours of the show at their live events. Live Nation previously announced that the artists would decide whether to enforce the mandate. They are also requiring that all Live Nation employees be vaccinated by October 4th to visit company offices, events and venues. For Live Nation venues see here

Live Nation said that best practices have been created for Artists to requests these policies at third-party venues. See here.

The Live Nation statement follows AEG Presents’ announcement that they will be requiring proof of Covid vaccination for entry into its owned, operated  clubs, theaters, festivals and theaters. Their Covid vaccination policy will be in full effect nationwide “no later than October 1, 2021” their website states.  Goldenvoice, the music events company that puts on Coachella, Stagecoach and others, will require proof of full Covid vaccination for concert attendees and event staff. AEG is the parent company of Goldenvoice. The new requirement excludes children under 12.

Shawn Tell, COO and General Counsel of AEG Presents states, “Certain states’ regulations may override our mandate, or a few artists may not want to immediately get on board with the plan, but we know that using our platform to take a strong position on vaccinations can make an impact. The message we want to send is simple and clear: the only way to be safe as possible is to require everyone to be vaccinated. And we’re confident that others who haven’t been ready to make this full commitment yet will follow our lead.”

The October dates for both event companies were chosen to allow all who choose to be vaccinated have the time and opportunity to become fully vaccinated.

Before the October date, AEG Presents “Will require all attendees and even staff to provide proof of vaccination or a negative Covid test taken within 72 Hours of the event, except where restricted by law.” If you have a concert coming up and don’t have time to get a test or vaccination  or are unwilling to provide these documents, you may request a refund, according to the AEG Presents website.

According to AP News, the “US is averaging 100,000 new Covid-19 infections a day, a milestone last exceeded during the winter surge and driven by the highly transmissible delta variant and low vaccination rates in the South.”
