Canadian Guitarist, Singer, Songwriter Jesse Roper Releases New Single & Video “Another Day Down” from his upcoming album to be released in 2022.

Recorded in New York City with producer Gus van Go (Arkells/Sam Roberts Band/The Stills) the material destined for Roper’s third full-length album finds him in an exploratory mood, expanding the palette of his blues-driven rock n’ roll. Ultimately Roper’s songs have always been centered upon his powerhouse, soulful vocals, and “Another Day Down” is no different.

Discussing the song and its evolution, Roper noted, “I crave adventure and love to travel at any and all times. ‘Another Day Down’ is about being stuck at home and feeling I am in limbo. I tend to become more irritable and my girlfriend tends to make suggestions as to how I could better spend my time. I ignore most of her suggestions, as I remain stuck in my own little jail cell world, where I don’t let myself do much. I’m frugal for the most part and I have a hard time spending money on anything that won’t directly further my musical career. I walk around telling myself to do things and I ignore those suggestions too.”

Roper adds, ” I was pretty confident my producer, Gus, was going to like this song. He did, and we got right after it. When it came to the drum part though, we hit a major snag. I always thought it would be a subdued beat under the verse, and kinda pick up in the chorus. Drummer Josh Dion came into the studio and played a super boisterous beat that doesn’t really change much throughout the whole thing. It was so opposite what I’d imagined I just couldn’t get into it. Gus loved it though! I couldn’t convince him to try another beat. He’d change the mix around it but not the beat. Months later, after not hearing the song and not obsessing about the drums, I listened to it again and found I loved the drums and the song. Go figure. Sometimes it’s good to listen to other people’s opinions.”

“Another Day Down” by Jesse Roper follows spring releases, “Does Anybody Know” and “Horizons”. Roper is quick to give credit to working with Van Go, who pushed him to explore new musical directions. “Recording with Gus helped make things to a whole new level. Everything was broken down to the finest details and nothing was allowed to sit at just ‘ok’. He really cared where the songs were headed and that they ended up just right. It was all about getting the vibe right.” And from these first three singles, right it is.
